Welcome to GPCCS Bilingual 2B! My name is DongMei Song or Alice Song, and I am thrilled to be your child’s Chinese teacher this year! It will be my 3rd year teaching at GPCCS. I graduated from Chandler-Gilbert Community College in the summer of 2024 and transferred to ASU to pursue my bachelor’s degree in middle or high school math teaching. I like kids and communicating with them. I am passionate about education and enjoy sharing knowledge I know, such as math and Chinese. My teaching philosophies are constructivist and progressive. Students learn by doing and their interests, and construct knowledge through experience. My role is to make the curriculum enjoyable and engaging and to facilitate a learning environment where they can gain rich experience and learn Chinese effectively. I also prioritize individuals’ needs, fostering a safe, respected, inclusive environment where all students take responsibility for their learning journey.
Textbook
We use Volume 2 of My First Chinese Reader (快乐儿童华语), which is specially designed to teach Chinese language skills to children living in non-Chinese speaking environments. It focuses on writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills and highlights the relevant topics, including school, family, daily life, sports, and includes rich and vivid illustrations that make learning fun.
